Turkey time
Sorry for the absence everyone! I have been very busy and then out of town for awhile. Thanksgiving break just ended, but it was a WONDERFUL break from school/work. I got to go home to the Springs and see my parents' new house for the first time since it was just a bunch of wood. It is very nice, and very open feeling. The basement is HUGE and you could probably fit about 5 couches down there nicely. So I hope they get a big pool table to fill that space soon. ;) Its also nice having my room downstairs, away from my parents' room for a change. Since I will be living there temporarily for awhile this January and again in the summer, its nice to have my own space.
It was also nice to get to hang out with my puppy and some of Dave's pets. I'm so pet deprived up here in Ft. Collins, so I take any chance I can get with an animal. The only bad thing is that I think I'm developing an allergy to long dog hair. I sneeze a lot, get a runny nose and watery eyes when I'm around them. But that won't stop me from loving them!! Our new house also has many rabbits running around our yard, and even coyotes at night!
These next 2 weeks I am sure I won't have time to post another update, and this is why: I have a big art of Africa presentation in a week and my graphic design portfolio review is on Dec. 8th. I have a LOT of work to do on my portfolio by then, and I have to make up some new pieces as well because I don't have enough to go from yet. So if any of you see me and I am crabby, I'll excuse myself now. Then the following week will be finals, and I will be so relieved to be done with this last semester at CSU's campus! Good luck to you all in this busy time of the year....

Bee Good
Another start to another week. Another week that feels like I have no time to do everything I need and want to do. Why oh why can't I just have a double made of me!?! And yet I am sitting here in the computer lab at school, monitoring, with nothing to do. Thats because all of the things I have to do are not with me at the moment, or I don't have access to at the moment. So I'll just sit here, drink my Sprite Remix, and babble on about my life.
I voted today, and I'm wearing that little sticker on my shirt. Why don't they put the money from making all of those little stickers towards something more useful? Like cancer research, or the broke college kids' fund. It took 45 minutes of standing in line to fill out some little black bubbles which took me 2-3 minutes. Sheesh!
Last week I got stung by a bee for the first time in my life. Now some may think I made a big deal about this, but I was actually kind of scared. Not because of the pain, but because it started to get really red and swell up; I was just praying that I wasn't allergic. But then my brother told me that you can't find out if you're allergic to bee stings until you get stung a second time. It took 21 years for me to get stung once, so hopefully I won't get stung again until I'm 42.
Halloween was alright, but it definitely felt weird. Saturday night I went out with my 2 girlfriends and we went to a couple parties and ended up at a bar. We saw all kinds of weird, cool, and revealing costumes. But it just seemed like a night out on the town where people just happened to be dressed up differently than usual. Other than that, Halloween didn't feel very "halloweenie". On the actual day I worked and then went over to a friends house and played Scattergories. Which was fun, believe me, I love that game, but it wasn't very festive. Oh well, better luck next year I guess. I dressed up as an army chick, kinda like G.I. Jane minus the bald head. The costume turned out ok, but it wasn't spectacular or anything.

Executions & tests
So last night I got to do a fun little volunteer thing. I was a scarer at the Fritzler corn maze just south of Greeley. I was helping raise funds for the AIGA group I'm in (a graphic designers club). I ended up with the job of executioner. I stood by a "guy" laying on a table, made the group of people come as close to it as possible, then asked them, "Should I let this guy go or teach him a lesson he'll never forget?" I hope I never have to say that again in my life, but anyways.... Then I would ask someone to touch him to make sure he was real, and then I would flip the switch, and BZZTTTT- the "guy" would flail about and strobelights ;) went off, and the girls would usually jump back, and if I was lucky I got a few screams. But mostly people just said it was "cool" or "thats it?". The funny thing was that I was wearing my Colorado State hoodie and I got a lot of CSU people who said something like, "Yeah CSU rocks." But then since I was near Greeley I got a lot of negative comments too. Oh well, you can't always get the pick of the crop! Sorry that was "corny". :)
I had a test this morning in my art of Africa class, which I got up at 6:30 to cram for. So now I'm really tired, brain dead, just wanna lay around and watch TV, and I have to study for another big test I have tomorrow! Not to mention its in the class that I have the biggest jerk for a teacher ever- history of media. I have never had so much repugnance for a teacher in my life, thats how bad this guy is. Ask Paul, hes in the class too. So that makes it that much harder for me to get up the motivation to study because I don't wanna get my test back again and feel like I was totally cheated when I should have done well, which is what happened on the first test. So I'm off to study... BOO!

What a week
So this week literally flew by!! But it was a good week because it was the first one this semester where I didn't have any tests or big assignments or projects due. I actually got a chance to go to a movie on Tuesday night, and have people over for a movie on Wednesday night!! That almost never happens. Tuesday we saw Team America: World Police, which was very funny, mostly for the songs and actors portrayed. Wednesday we watched Boondock Saints, which is a great movie with 2 hot Irish guys! Who can resist an Irish accent, I mean seriously?? (I think thats why I like Dave) haha
I also got my hair cut this week, and I'm lovin' it! Its nice and short now, but it still flips out how I like it to. The only downside is that it looks crappy if I don't do anything to it in the morning, so if I ever wake up really late and don't have time to do it, I'm screwed. Oh well though, I'm not trying to impress anyone, and Dave already knows what I look like when my hair is a mess.
So my parents are moving today and tomorrow. They are moving to another house in the Springs that they just had built. I think its going to be a very nice house, but I'm still extremely sad to leave the house that I grew up in for my whole life. It holds so many wonderful memories, secret hiding places, grown trees, and neighbors that are like family. I will never forget how many great holidays we had there, or how many cool little parties we hosted there. 2909, may you rest in peace!

Argh
Ok, so in direct contrast to my last entry, today I am in an unusually bad mood. For 3 reasons: I woke up late this morning so I had to rush all around to get ready for school. Last night I found out that my grandma is sick and had to go to the hospital. Then my car got hit in the parking lot today by some stupid girl.
Although my car is ok and came out with only some scratches and a crack in the bumper, I was still perturbed and had to miss my soccer class to file a police report. Then I will have to probably go get an estimate and get it fixed sometime, and I just don't have that much free time lately.
My grandma had a really bad case of bronchitis these past couple weeks and it just wouldn't go away. She was having some really bad coughing fits and so she was admitted into the hospital to take some more tests and give her some breathing treatments. My grandma has really had a pretty rough medical history with diabetes and breast cancer along with some other related illnesses. So I'm a little worried about her to say the least.
As for getting up late, it happens to me a lot, but it still sucks. :-P

I don't mind
"I don't mind spending every day, out on your corner in the pouring rain. Watch for the girl with the broken smile, ask her if she wants to stay awhile, and she WILL be loved, and she will be looooved."
Don't you love when you're just in a good mood for no real reason?? I am in one right now, and I love it. And that Maroon 5 song was playing in my car on my way home from work so I was singing it really loudly, it was awesome. I came home and my lightbulb burned out, but I don't care, cuz they're only $.66 this week at Longs. And I'm sore all over from working out, but it only makes me smile because I can see muscles now that I've never seen before. I love my boyfriend, he's the best. He makes me smile so much. I've made some really cool new friends lately from the CSUforums, so that makes me smile too. Yay for life being good!

Font completion
WOOHOO! My font is all done and designed, and it came out great. I can't host pictures on the web anymore or I'd post it on here. But it is basically a 3-D kid's type of font. It uses mostly blocks and spheres with pin-like structures going through them. I called it Pinhead! My teacher liked it also and it is now hanging up in the hallway of the art building! I have a goal each semester of getting one project put up in the hallway and this one came first, so that made me very happy. Now my goal is 2! Somehow I survived through my 3 tests between Monday and Tuesday this week. But now I am quite brain-dead. So to help with getting my mind back in order, I'm going to take Friday off and go play paintball with my boyfriend. Unless I get shot in the head, it should help me! :) Wish me luck, I'm playing against a group of big 'ol firefighters! Last time I played with them though I did pretty dang well though. Hope you all are having a good week!!

Just cuz
I decided to write a little update on my life at the moment. I am already very busy with school and work this semester. I'm working about 30 hours a week at Longs Drugs. I am also playing intramural soccer and softball. We had our first soccer game last night and we did really good!! We won 2-1 in a close game that became very exciting. I had an assist (well it was really a shot that bounced off the goalie and Jeremy was behind me to rebound it in).
Some of the most exciting news as of late is that Paul and I are definitely going to Italy for the spring semester!!!!! WOOHOO!! I'm really getting excited now, I just got my passport today, which was really expensive.
But I just found out I'm going to see Collateral in 5 minutes so I gotta go... to be continued....

Okkkk
So guys, I have been really bad about this whole blog thing lately, I apologize. I just haven't been getting any response so it's not really doing much for me. But I decided to post today anyways. So school started last week. I already had a ton of homework this weekend. I had to have 15 pages of thumbnail sketches done for our first project in typography. We are creating our own font, so I had to draw the ABC's over and over. So far my favorite idea's were "Pigtails", "Polka-bet" and "Playful". That last one needs a better name, but couldn't think of one right off the bat. (Where did that term "right off the bat" come from anyways?)
This semester I am also a computer lab monitor in the art building. This is an awesome deal for me because I can put it on my resume as "supervised college teaching", I can get access to the lab whenever I want to, and I can do my homework while there!
So in the event that I am creating a new font, I would like to ask you all a question:
What is your favorite font, or the one you use the most often? Please respond!! :)
